Ricci (Ric) Ruffinelli is a fourth generation Venturan. He and his wife, Penny, have been married for close to 40 years, they have two children. Their son Christopher is married to Megan and they have two children, Ashlynn, and Madalynn. Chris is currently employed at Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard as a teacher and AVID Coordinator. He is also the Boys Basketball Coach. His wife Megan is the Escape School Coordinator for Ventura County. Their daughter Gina is married to Daniel Wolowicz, the editor of the Camarillo Acorn. She is currently Vice-Principal at DeAnza Middle School in Ventura. Dan and Gina have a daughter Marina.
Mr. Ruffinelli received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University in Los Angeles and his graduate work was at the University of Southern California. He spent nearly eighteen in the health care industry as a chief financial officer and later as a hospital administrator. He helped to create one of the most successful adolescent chemical dependency recovery facilities in America while associated with the Adventist Health Care System.
In May of 1988, he left the health care field and accepted a job as the chief financial officer of Dob’s Tire Stores a chain of 35 tires stores based in Ventura. Over the next two years he assisted in developing the chain to a total of 58 outlets. From 1994 through 1995, he played in integral role in the merger of Dob’s Tire Stores and Parnelli Jones, Inc. This new organization was the 5th largest independent Tire Company in America having over 90 retail sites and 5 wholesale locations.
During all of this time, Mr. Ruffinelli was a major share holder in Ventura Computer Systems, Inc. VCS was run by a staff of computer specialists but guided by Mr. Ruffinelli from August 1971 until today. It started as a service bureau in its early days and evolved into one of Ventura County’s only Internet strategy companies. In 2001, Mr. Ruffinelli joined with Duane Eells and Rob Rastovich in search of a new venture. In January of 2002, they launched ZestNet a digital print design, graphic design, company identification, digital marketing, website development, database integration, and wireless integration. ZestNet is the only firm of its type in th Tri-County area.
Mr. Ruffinelli, is the president of the Ventura College Athletic Assocaition, the president of the Los Angeles Archdiocese Education Council, Chairman of the Our Lady of the Assumption Pastoral Council, and a board member of the Ventura YMCA. He has been involved in athletics as an official and public address announcer for over 31 years. He currently announces football for St. Bonaventure High School and football and basketball for Ventura College.
INDUCTED IN 2007
