Vi & Bob Parada are natives of Ventura and have been married for 57 years. They raised four daughters; Patsy, Roberta, Kathy and Christine, the youngest of which attended Saint Bonaventure High School.
Vi & Bob have been active supporters of the school since 1968. They can recall a time when the football team had no more than 20 players as opposed to the State Championship team they hold today! In support of Saint Bonaventure they began running bingo under the direction of Principals; Father Tom Meskil, Brother Hillarian O’Conner, Brother Tom Fahey, and Brother Paulinus Horkan.
Their daughter Christine sent her two children, Gilbert and Andrea, to Saint Bonaventure. Gilbert played varsity baseball for four years, graduating in 2001 and went on to play at Fresno State where he graduated from in 2005 (Gilbert was inducted into the SBHS Hall of Fame in 2009). Andrea played varsity soccer for four years and graduated in 2005.
Bingo fundraising was instrumental in the construction of the gym and baseball stadium. Without the continued support of Vi and Bob all these years, bingo would not have grown to be as successful as it is and the school would not have the funds to build and expand the campus facilities and classroom technology.
